Deathbot Unboxing Begins!

Stolen shamelessly, but somewhat appropriate...

Without much ado and any further delay, let’s start the blog articles showing you what was in those lovely blisters and boxes acquired from TempleCon 2014!

First up is one I think a lot of people were waiting for, the Iron Mother herself, Directrix and her Exponent Servitors.  This was a heavy blister containing all the pieces you will need to construct your own Deathbot Warcaster Vessel and her floating hoverbots.

Chock full of robot-y goodness with none of the distracting nougat.

Inside the blister is what you would expect; packaging sleeve, 3 cards, white metal parts for both the Warcaster and Servitors, a medium base, 2 small bases, and a baggie with three flight stands.

Cards for the Servitors and Iron Mother Directrix, which we have seen in the Convergence of Cyriss book.  Not much else new or exciting here, move along…

Floating balls of doom!

Aperture Beam shots sound more dangerous than they truly are, but having Harm on a stick is sort of nice for any Warcaster….

They are so tiny and cute and full of Harm!

These are SUPER tiny little Exponent Servitors, they are about 8mm diameter balls with a METRIC Tonne of detail on them, they are very gorgeous little guys.  Please disregard the hideous hand holding the pretty model…

She went to pieces for the faction just like I did.

The Iron Mother herself comes in 10 pieces plus the base, with some very interesting model assembly (mine came in 11 pieces but I think that’s just because I got lucky and have two of her tabard pieces).  The torso and blade-cloak sides and back cloth pictured above the model all attack to the back of Mother, while the legs go under the “skirt” that hangs down behind her and the tabard connects on the front.  The arms are very little connection points, so I pinned those, and the legs-skirt-torso got one pin all the way through as well.  The head and the tabard on the front seemed to have enough surface area that I just scored them and glued with gap-filling glue.  Let’s have a look at the assembled Iron Mother Directrix model:

The right side looks a bit wider from here, but it went on the same way.

I literally have no idea how those legs and her metal spine is supporting all that weight.

I’m going to come back to this and post pictures of the Iron Mother Directrix and her servitors when I get them done, I hope to get some paint on them before the start of the Scars of Caen league in March as I will then shift gears with my painting.

Overall I would say this is a lovely model, with a moderate amount of assembly skill required and possessing tons of gorgeous detail that will work with just about any paint scheme I can think of.  The model releases in February and will be hitting tables very soon from what i can tell of how popular the Iron Mother is.

Go out and get your gaming on, hope this quick unboxing has been of benefit to you Convergence fans out there!

    Awesome model, isnt’s he?
Just like you indicate at the last picture: I’m suprised you didn’t need to have her blade cloak “touch” the base for additional support. It seems soooo unbalanced and on the verge of falling over.

If your finished IMD matches the Divinity Architect you painted, she’ll be pretteh!

Thanks man!! I hope to have her up later this week, as well as a few other pieces I am finished painting now.
