I’m Conning your Temple, 2014!

That’s right people, it is Thursday, February the 6th of 2014 and right now, somewhere in the Crowne Plaza hotel in Warwick, RI I am sleeping off the first of many nights of copious amounts of drinking.  Alternatively I haven’t slept and am in the line to get access to the new Privateer Press shinies when their booth opens in the morning, hoping beyond hope that Stryker3, Vengeance Softcover and ALL THE CONVERGENCE DEATHBOTS pre release models will be mine.  TempleCon 2014 is here, and the best FOUR days in gaming have begun.  Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful, but it’s fine to resent me for the fact that i am here amongst many friends and fans of the Warmachine & Hordes games (including High Command!).

After driving down Wednesday with as many Canadians from Southwestern Ontario as we could muster we got our stuff sorted out, rooms arranged, beds claimed, floor space cleared for those afraid to snuggle, and bathtubs filled with ice and beer or beverage of choice.  Then it was time to be social and find friends we don’t see often, reconnect with people in the bar, and begin the bragging, taunting, teasing, and typical gamer behaviours so often seen at conventions.  For me I was looking forward to seeing my good buddies Nog, Plarzoid, Faultie and Yaum.  Also important are Lonelymonk, Snakeman, Hacksaw, Devilsquid, Prettijewel and a host of others I have met and spent time with before at a TempleCon of years past or at WMW.  So many fond memories stem from the fact that I get to spend my time with these people, get caught up on their lives, share the passion of a hobby and game we love, play some games, have some laughs, and just be goofy nerds all with similar interests for these few days we attend the con.

I am currently scheduled for one tournament, the Team Tournament, and 5 alcohol tasting events.  And the Privateer Press panel.  So I would say my priorities are correct.  That being said I plan to play a lot of Iron Arena games this year, and meet new players from all over.  I’ve already arranged to meet up with Omnus from the Removed From Play podcast to chat Legion, and I hope to see a bunch of people I myself look up to in the hobby like JVM, phatasian, the Muse crew, Kris from Mechanika Studios, and many more.

If any of you are attending TempleCon and want a game or just to see how my liver fares over the weekend, be sure to hit me up on e-mail at northblade@hobbyhysteria.com or through the blog in the comments.  Pro tip:  I’ll be easy to find, just check the bar or the gaming room.

Epic times ahead, people, and I hope to bring you some news and spoilers or just play fun throughout the weekend.  Watch the blog for a post as well as Twitter for all the fun from TempleCon 2014!

Gah… wish I were there with you guys! Sounds like 4 days of great fun, games and liver abuse!

(Ahem, though *technically, GenCon is “The Best Four Days in Gaming” – and they even TMed it.) 🙂

I see you all failed to return home with the team championship. Better luck next year but how can one win with 3 carniveans anyways?
